Corporate Volunteering and ESG: Strategic Alliance with the Ciudad del Niño Foundation

As part of the ongoing execution of AFRA ESG initiative, the firm conducted a new corporate volunteering day on November 17th. This initiative reaffirms the historical relationship between AFRA and the Fundación Ciudad del Niño, focusing on comprehensive support and social development for vulnerable populations.

Continuity in Social Investment

The activity focused on a visit to Wanda’s House, the interactive environmental education center created by Marea Verde in 2024 to inspire children, youth, and adults to take action against plastic pollution in rivers and coastal areas

Unlike sporadic interventions, AFRA's strategy prioritizes recurring support for allied institutions, allowing for long-term impact measurement and the building of solid trust with beneficiaries. The day included an educational and recreational phase on-site,followed by an visit to AFRA's offices.

This component is crucial, as it exposes children to professional environments, fostering aspirations and providing a tangible perspective on future career possibilities.

The Role of Volunteering in ESG Culture

Corporate volunteering is a key indicator of the Social (S) component within ESG criteria. The active participation of the firm's employees not only benefits the community but also strengthens internal organizational culture.

Integrating recreational activities with learning spaces within the corporate environment demonstrates a commitment that transcends material donation, focusing on the transfer of values, quality time, and informal mentorship.

Implications for the Community and the Firm

The sustainability of NGOs relies heavily on stable alliances with the private sector.

  • Community Impact: Constant interaction provides emotional stability and a sense of belonging to the resident children.
  • Human Capital: For AFRA, these events reinforce soft skills within the team, such as empathy and collaborative work, which are essential for a humane and conscious legal practice.
