IDB Invest, member of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), acted as subscriber and structurer of the first gender bonds in Latin America, issued by Banistmo, affiliate of Bancolombia, for an aggregate value of US$ 50 Million. Funds collected through these bonds will be used to support and borrow resources to SMEs (small and medium enterprises) led by women, making Panama the first country in Latin America with a socially and gender focused bond offering and potentially contributing to 4 United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals. AFRA advised and represented IDB Invest on this historic transaction that will hopefully be followed by many more. Partners Roberto Harrington and María Alejandra Cargiulo and Associate Ana Raquel Sedda represented IDB Invest.
