Alfredo has been an Associate in our Commercial Department since 2015.
He initially joined our firm as a legal assistant while completing his university studies in Law and Political Sciences. Throughout his tenure, Alfredo has provided counsel to a diverse range of clients, including local enterprises and multinational corporations, on a variety of domestic and cross-border issues.
His expertise spans various areas, including mergers and acquisitions, project financing, corporate law, regulatory and antitrust matters, and real estate transactions.
Experience
- Advised Global Bank Corporation in the restructuring of existing obligations for Saltos del Francoli, S.A., a hydroelectric power plant located in Rio David, Chiriquí.
- Advised DEG - Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (DEG) regarding a US $25MM Loan Agreement between Banco La Hipotecaria, S.A. and La Hipotecaria, S.A. of C.V. (as borrowers) and SDR.
- Advised DEG in connection with a US$15MM unsecured loan to BCT Bank.
- Advised Financiera El Sol in the process of securitizing a local financial company's portfolio of more than US $350MM.
- Represented Grupo Comercial de Comunicaciones as local counsel in its acquisition of McCann Erickson operations in Panama and Costa Rica.
- Advised Grupo Arrocha and Grupo A/F Diunsa in the acquisition of 100% of the outstanding shares of Importadora Maduro, S.A., owner of Felix B. Maduro, one of the leading retail stores in Panama.
- Acted as counsel for sellers in the sale of Balboa Academy, S.A. to Inspired Education Holdings Limited.
- Acted as local counsel to VT Group (Verenigde Tankrederij BV) in the leveraged buyout of the tanker activities in mainland Spain, Morocco, the Canary Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, and Panama (Balboa, Cristobal); and assets of Boluda Corporación Marítima (Boluda), a leader in the sector in Spain with an annual fuel supply capacity of over 12 million tons and business assets which include 11 tankers managed in Spain and 4 which are managed from the Panama office.
- Represented a Boston-based emerging markets investment fund in the acquisition of approximately 9,200 hectares in the provinces of Darien and Panama, including approximately 7,000 hectares of planted teak.
- Acted as local counsel to Kingsland Holdings Limited as an Independent Third Party appointed by United Airlines Inc. in Avianca Holdings S.A., in a process started by United to protect its rights as a creditor of BRW Aviation LLC in a loan granted by United and secured with shares of Avianca Holdings S.A.
